Healthy Chocolate Hazelnut Spread

Simply magic. Forget Nutella. This chocolate hazelnut spread is a dream. Its consistency is perfection, its taste is beyond marvellous, it is very easy to make and it’s full of goodness. What more does one need? Well, maybe a spoon.

Ingredients

Yields 2 x 250 jars

250g hazelnut butter

50g raw cacao powder

170ml maple syrup (or more to taste)

125ml plant based milk (we used vanilla soy milk for extra flavour)

2 tbsp date paste*

1 tsp vanilla extract

A small pinch of salt

Method

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and process until very smooth.

Keep at room temperature, or in the fridge.

Notes

* You can find date paste in health food stores or online, however it is very simple to make, just by blending pre-soaked pitted dates with a bit of water, until you have a soft paste. Do not be tempted to use the dates without soaking blending them first on their own, or you may end up with tiny chewy bits in your spread.
